Dr Maria-Angeliki Gkini shares her highlights from key psoriasis sessions at EADV 2026, and discusses what these could mean for clinical practice.

New oral treatments, personalized care, combination therapies, and the role of diet and exercise were among the psoriasis topics explored at EADV 2026.

On Day 2 of the congress, we were delighted to speak with touchDERMATOLOGY Editorial Board member, Dr Maria-Angeliki Gkini (Barts Health NHS Trust, London, UK) who shared her highlights from some of the key psoriasis sessions, and discussed what these developments could mean for clinical practice.

My first highlight comes from the Free Communications session on psoriasis. We are seeing increasingly more studies focusing on new oral treatments, and I think we are now entering a new era in the management of psoriasis.

Tomorrow’s session on ‘Multidisciplinary approaches and personalized treatment’ in psoriasis will explore personalized care and precision medicine. The talk will cover new treatment options and combination therapies, including agents such as GLP-1 inhibitors, alongside diet and exercise, and how these can contribute to more holistic patient management. Psychological support is also an important part of this approach. We should not forget that psoriasis affects more than the skin; it is a systemic condition associated with multiple comorbidities.

Another highlight was yesterday’s symposium, ‘Multimodal approaches to psoriasis’, where we discussed psoriasis and cardiovascular comorbidities. This is an area we have focused on increasingly over the past 4 to 5 years.

As clinicians, we need to assess cardiovascular risk in our patients with psoriasis and manage their care holistically. Yes, we should be treating our patients with approved treatments for their psoriatic disease, but other treatment options, like statins, should also be considered in these patients. There should also be regular monitoring for patients who are at moderate to high risk of a cardiovascular event. In summary, it is time to change our approach to managing patients with psoriasis.
