We are delighted to welcome Dr Benjamin Kaffenberger to the Expert Faculty of touchDERMATOLOGY. An Associate Professor of Dermatology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, OH, Dr. Kaffenberger’s clinical interests include cellulitis and pseudoinfections of the skin, wounds, and drug reactions, with specialized clinical and research expertise in pyoderma gangrenosum, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), DRESS syndrome, and Stevens–Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS/TEN).
Dr. Kaffenberger is deeply engaged in improving in-hospital dermatology outcomes and expanding patient access through teledermatology, as well as advancing diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in drug eruptions and skin infections. He has served as principal investigator or co-investigator on numerous clinical trials in areas ranging from psoriasis and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma to pyoderma gangrenosum and systemic lupus erythematosus, with support from organizations such as the National Psoriasis Foundation and the Dermatology Foundation, as well as from industry sponsors.
In addition to authoring multiple peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Kaffenberger has contributed to several foundational dermatology and pathology textbooks, providing expert chapters on panniculitis, cutaneous lymphomas, and graft-versus-host disease.
Outside of his professional work, he enjoys music, gardening, being outdoors, fishing, home improvement projects, cross-country skiing, and spending time with his wife and four children.
