touchMEETING HIGHLIGHTS
Emerging Perspectives on Disease Burden and Management of Children With Atopic Dermatitis

Learning Objectives
After viewing this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Review the pathophysiology of AD in children, with a focus on the role of type 2 inflammation
- Explore the factors that are associated with the persistence of AD from childhood into adulthood
- Understand when systemic treatment should be considered for children with moderate-to-severe AD
Overview
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory disease with cutaneous and systemic effects that can lead to significant disease burden in children and their caregivers. These highlights from an ADVENT symposium presented at EAPS 2024 will discuss the role of type 2 inflammation in skin barrier disruption and itch, the persistence of AD from childhood into adulthood, and the importance of early intervention in children with severe AD.
